Lamborghini Calgary Driver Education Day @ AREA 27

    May 29th 2017

Incredible, this is how we would describe this past weekend. Natural talent and pure adrenaline came forth in all of our drivers at Area 27 and we could not have asked for a better outcome.

This event started late morning on Sunday, May 28th with a majority of our drivers convoying together from the Lower Mainland. With a quick pit-stop in Princeton, the crew traveled further and arrived, mid-afternoon, to the spectacular Spirit Ridge resort. After freshening up and relaxing after a long drive, the group got together in a private banquet hall for a BBQ-style dinner and an itinerary refresh by our crew of skilled instructors.

    Starting at Area 27

Early Monday morning came quickly, and after breakfast our group gathered together and travelled, convoy-style, to Oliver, BC. This is where the challenging Area 27 track is situated. After an informative sit-down session with our instructors and the on-site flag team, we were ready to hit the track.

The group was split up into three sub-groups: novice, intermediate, and advanced. This was done to provide an ideal environment for each driving level. The track session started with a slow drive around the daunting Area 27 track. Easing drivers into the route and letting them get to know its 16 corners. Next, drivers were given the opportunity to go one-on-one with an instructor. Hitting the throttle a little harder to get the heart pumping. After a refreshing lunch break – the drivers hit the track again, this time a little harder and a little faster.

    Pros on the track

We were also joined by the one and only, Ryan Ockey. Ryan finished on the podium in 2014 for Round 11 of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series at Road Atlanta. Also, reunited at Area 27 with the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo car that he drove to victory, an amazing sight to see.

For the rest of the afternoon, drivers were given the opportunity to test their limits, safely, alone on the track. They were always receiving feedback from instructors watching closely.

All in all, we received extraordinary feedback from our drivers as well as our instructors who were thoroughly impressed with the level of skill shown by the group.

Please take a moment to view our events calendar and get involved with some of our upcoming events. Our next track day is October 12-13th – make sure you keep an eye out for pre-registration because if this one is anything like the last, it will be sure to fill-up quickly.

Finally, from all of us here at Lamborghini Calgary, we would like to extend a huge thank-you to all of our participants and spectators, without whom this event could not have been possible.
